First off, I loved it, it was awesome, an excellent retake on the franchise....Go See it if you're a Trek fan, just keep an open mind

Not a Trek fan to begin with? Give it a shot, Its certainly a very interesting and fresh take on the franchise..you might not get a few "in-jokes" but its still amazing to watch...


Now then, there might be spoilers below here:




Ok far enough

Now then, my complaints:

-The Kelvin had 800 people? The Hell? A Constitution-class [AKA The Original Enterprise] had a crew of 430 and the much later, much larger Enterprise-D [Galaxy-class] has a compliment of 1,014 or so including Civillians...the Kelvin was from what I could tell a LOT smaller than a Constitution-class ship...and certainly NOT the size of a Galaxy-class ship....They also seemed to evacuate in maybe [overestimating] 10 shuttles, Minus the one the Captain took to Nero's ship, so 9 shuttles...each if you cram full of people can hold maybe a dozen people [Hey look, you're getting out of there, Guess what, Cram in there fuckers] So I think Pike meant to say EIGHTY people, Not 800..

-Chekov's acting, Er....he WAY overdid the Russian accent, Chekov was NEWER wiss wad at speaking engwish......Though it was funny as hell

-Spock and Uhura....Uh..overdone a little...but before anyone gets nuts, they state on Memory Alpha that Uhura HAD tried to appeal to Spock's human side, and that she looked up to him "as a mentor" ....Keep in mind that originally this was a TV show from the 60s...and at the time, any form of relationship between Uhura and anyone -not- African American was TABOO [Yes they later violated that Taboo, and it was great] so this could be seen as a more modern interpertation of that..

-The pacing felt "rushed" but then again its a 2 hour movie wherein they're trying to reintroduce the entire main cast and give them screentime, To be honest, this is a minor complaint

Now then..my positives:

-Kirk in a Corvette...XD

-Kirk and the Kobayashi Maru Test

-Scotty, period

-Sulu kicking ass with a sword

-The moment Engineer...whats his face....was mentioned I turned to my mom and went "I bet you he dies in 3 seconds" ....Then being proved right

-Sulu stalling the Enterprise

-The Federation Fleet...

-The Remains of the Federation Fleet [You'd think Starfleet would have LEARNED after that...That said, the Narada was ADVANCED, it raped a Klingon fleet in the future, a Klingon fleet Commanded by WORF for god's sake..it had stolen Borg technology and a whole host of other junk inside of it that made it basically a 1-ship fleet..The ONLY reason the Enterprise won was the Jellyfish ramming it AND the resulting singularity...]

-Seeing Spock break

-The entire Bones chasing Kirk around the Enterprise with Hyposprays..

-Seeing Spock with Spock...

-Seeing Spock with Kirk

-One word "...BULLSHIT"
